Aviate
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
Aviate is an educational app designed to help student pilots develop aviation knowledge and radio communication skills. It is not intended to replace formal flight instruction or provide operational aviation advice.
This policy explains how information is collected and used in the Aviate app, and includes website privacy information for the Aviate marketing website. Website-related additions require final human review before public launch.
Information we collect in the app
Account information
When you create an Aviate account, we may collect your name (if provided), email address, authentication method (email, Google or Apple Sign-In) and a unique account identifier. This helps securely identify your account and synchronise progress across devices.
Learning progress
Aviate stores information such as lessons completed, current lesson progress, learning-track selection, daily learning streak, quiz and practice results, Groundwork progress, Flight Radio progress and subscription status. This lets you continue learning where you left off and supports features such as Daily Flight and progress tracking.
Voice exercises
Flight Radio lessons include optional voice exercises. When you choose one, Aviate requests microphone permission and records audio only after you press the Record button. Recordings are securely transmitted for speech recognition and feedback generation.
Voice recordings are processed using trusted third-party services, including OpenAI. Aviate does not permanently store original voice recordings after analysis. Transcripts and assessment results may be stored as part of a learning session, but the original audio is not retained by Aviate.
Usage information
We collect limited information about app usage, including app version, iOS device information, features used, app performance, crash reports and general usage analytics. This helps improve Aviate, identify bugs and make future updates.
How we use app information
We use information to provide and improve the Aviate learning experience; save learning progress; personalise training; deliver Daily Flight lessons; analyse Flight Radio voice exercises; improve performance and reliability; respond to support requests; and meet legal obligations where required.
We do not sell your personal information.
App service providers and subscriptions
Aviate uses service providers needed to operate the app. These may include Google Firebase for app authentication, cloud database, cloud storage, cloud functions and analytics; OpenAI for speech transcription and AI-generated feedback during Flight Radio voice exercises; Apple’s App Store for subscription billing; and RevenueCat for subscription management.
Aviate Pro subscriptions are purchased through Apple’s App Store. Payment processing is handled by Apple, and Aviate does not collect or store payment-card details.
Website support and instructor enquiries
The Aviate marketing website is separate from the app. It does not access Aviate app accounts, Firebase Authentication data, Firestore data or learning progress.
When support and instructor forms are enabled, the website will collect the details you submit, such as your name, email address, enquiry category and message. The intended flow is: your submission is sent to a Firebase HTTPS Function, checked by Cloudflare Turnstile for spam protection, then delivered by Resend to Aviate’s private support recipient. No permanent website form-submission database is planned.
Firebase Hosting and Google infrastructure will be used to host the website. Firebase Cloud Functions, Cloudflare Turnstile and Resend will process form enquiries only when those forms are enabled. Lightweight website analytics are not currently enabled; if enabled later, this policy will be reviewed and updated as appropriate.
Notifications
If you choose to enable notifications, Aviate may send Daily Flight availability, learning reminders and important app updates. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
Data security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect information using industry-standard security measures. No online service can guarantee complete security, but we work to protect information from unauthorised access, disclosure or misuse.
We retain account information and learning progress while your Aviate account remains active. If you delete your account, your personal information and learning progress are permanently removed from Aviate’s systems as part of the deletion process. Limited information may be retained where required to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
Your rights
You may access your personal information, update account information, request correction of inaccurate information and delete your Aviate account at any time from Settings in the app. Account deletion permanently removes your account, learning progress and associated personal information from Aviate’s systems. It cannot be undone.
Children’s privacy
Aviate is intended for aviation students and is not specifically directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to remove that information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Aviate develops or legal requirements change. When significant changes are made, we will update the date at the top of this page.
